What cooking methods are there in Cameroon?<\/p><\/div>\n

LPG is commonly used as a cooking fuel in households with medium to high income in Cameroon. It is primarily used to quickly heat food, such as cooking with water or brief frying. However, it is not as suitable for preparing large quantities of food due to economic reasons and its limited efficiency.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Advantages<\/b><\/p>\n

LPG stoves are very convenient and easy to ignite. They are known for quickly becoming hot, benefiting users with time savings through faster cooking. For example, in Sri Lanka, the use of LPG stoves has saved 2-3 hours of cooking time per day.<\/p>\n

Disadvantages<\/b><\/p>\n

However, LPG stoves have open flames that require airflow to maintain the flames. This airflow also leads to heat loss, limiting cooking efficiency. The open flame also poses the risk of fires and burns.<\/p>\n

Biogas<\/b><\/p>\n

On the other hand, there are organizations and training centers like the ‘Vocational Training Center Nhal’ that train citizens in the production of biogas, which is a clean method of cooking. This energy source, which has enormous potential in African countries, could not only contribute to environmental protection but also reduce diseases caused by other cooking methods (more on this in other articles). If this solution can be implemented in many households, waste will be drastically reduced, and greenhouse gases will be diminished.<\/p>\n

What is Biogas?<\/b><\/p>\n

Biogas is produced through the fermentation of organic fermentable materials, such as household waste, agricultural residues, and wastewater from animal husbandry.<\/p>\n
